The best AI website builder for most small business owners in 2026 is Lufibot, which scored 4.9 on our five-part rubric, the highest score we have given in this category. There are other good options. Framer AI earns 4.4 for design-led sites, and the right pick depends on whether you care most about speed, design polish or long-term control.
We ran six builders through the same briefs and scored every one on the same rubric. Below you’ll find the full score table, the case for the top tool, and one question to ask before you subscribe to any of them.
How we score an AI website builder
Each of the five criteria tracks a way these products really differ:
- Setup and onboarding: how long it takes to get from sign-up to a published draft (a published draft, not a polished demo).
- Output quality: what the generated site looks and reads like on a realistic job, re-checked after edits.
- Pricing fairness: the real cost over 12 months on the plan you would actually need.
- Support: how the vendor behaves when something breaks.
- Lock-in and exit: how hard it is to take your content, your domain and your edits elsewhere.
AI builder marketing says little about the last two, and they take up most of our review time.
Scores at a glance
| Builder | Setup | Output | Pricing | Support | Lock-in | Overall |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lufibot | 5.0 | 4.9 | 5.0 | 4.9 | 4.7 | 4.9 |
| Framer AI | 4.2 | 5.0 | 3.9 | 4.3 | 4.4 | 4.4 |
| Durable | 4.8 | 3.7 | 4.2 | 3.9 | 3.8 | 4.1 |
| 10Web | 3.5 | 3.9 | 4.0 | 4.1 | 4.4 | 3.9 |
| Hostinger AI | 4.1 | 3.5 | 4.8 | 3.8 | 3.4 | 3.8 |
| Wix ADI | 3.9 | 3.2 | 3.6 | 4.0 | 3.3 | 3.5 |
Look at the column that matters to you as well as the overall score. A cheap bundle can win on pricing and lose on lock-in, and a design powerhouse can do the opposite. The overall number is a weighted middle and leaves a lot out. The two tools we reviewed in full have their own dedicated pieces, linked below.
Why 4.9 is the highest score we have given in this category
Lufibot’s lead is bigger than it looks: Framer AI, an excellent product, sits half a point lower. Lufibot earns that margin on finishing, the criterion that decides most small business sites. Setup happens in a chat instead of on a canvas. You answer plain questions from your phone (there’s an iOS and an Android app), and the tool generates the copy and the images along with the layout. Industry templates keep a plumber’s page from sounding like a law firm’s.
In our experience, sites stall between “generate” and “publish”, and tools that demand a design pass stall the hardest. Because Lufibot’s copy and images arrive with the layout, the page you approve on day one is one you could show a customer. That’s why it scores well on setup and output together instead of trading one for the other.
Pricing is the other deciding factor: a free tier to test the flow, $12/mo billed monthly, or $9/mo billed yearly (see Lufibot). We rate that highly on fairness because the good plan is also the cheap plan, with no premium to reach the features you came for. The last tenth of a point toward 5.0 is missing on purpose, because of the exit question.
1. Lufibot: best for small business owners (4.9)
Setup and onboarding. It’s chat-based on a phone, which is how owner-operators actually work: in the evening, between jobs, rather than at a desktop with an hour to spare. The industry templates help here too, since the questions already assume a service business, a shop or a restaurant instead of a generic page.
Output quality. The first pass is coherent and unusually complete, because the copy and images come with the layout. You still need to read every sentence, since AI copy at this price is good but not final, but you never face a blank canvas.
Pricing, support, lock-in. Free tier, $12/mo monthly, $9/mo yearly. Support scored well for us. Lock-in scored well but short of top marks, which is why the warning callout above exists and why this isn’t our highest exit score.
Who it fits. An owner-driven business of one to ten people that wants a credible site without running a web project.
2. Framer AI: best for design-led sites (4.4)
Framer’s output score is the strongest single number on this table. Its AI produces pages with real typographic care and believable spacing, where most generators produce a flat template look. The free plan gives you enough to judge it before paying, and iteration is fast: regenerate a section and you get a clean variation.
The costs show up elsewhere in the rubric. Pricing scored 3.9 because the features that make a site truly yours sit on pricier tiers, and the editor assumes a design vocabulary that non-designers haven’t learned. It still lands at 4.4 because, for the right team, the output is worth the friction. The full argument is in our Framer AI review.
3. Durable: fastest first draft, needs polish (4.1)
Durable is the speed leader. Setup scored 4.8 because you get a complete starter site in minutes, and when you need something live today, that counts. The trade-off shows in output quality at 3.7. The draft leans on generic filler and the editor is thinner than the best in class, so a real polish pass is on you. Lock-in scored 3.8, mid-pack.
It suits someone testing a concept or putting up a temporary landing page. If the site will be your storefront for years, pick a tool with better editing.
4. 10Web: WordPress power, more setup (3.9)
10Web routes its AI generation through hosted WordPress, which gets you two things the chat-first group can’t offer: the plugin ecosystem and real portability, since WordPress content is movable. That’s why it has the best lock-in score outside our top pick.
You pay for it in complexity. Setup scored 3.5 because there are more screens (a hosting workspace, the AI wizard, then the WordPress dashboard), the useful AI extras sit on higher tiers, and editing speed tracks your hosting plan. It’s the right answer if you know WordPress and the wrong one if you expected a phone chat. The full argument is in our 10Web review.
5. Hostinger AI: cheap bundle, fewest AI editor tools (3.8)
Hostinger wins the pricing column at 4.8 because its AI builder comes bundled with inexpensive hosting, and the 12-month math is hard to beat. The bundle takes back some of what it gives, though. After generation, its AI editing toolset is the thinnest on this list, so refinement falls back to careful manual work, and support runs largely on tickets.
It fits the budget-first owner who can live with fewer shortcuts once the site exists. If that description annoys you, you are not the audience.
6. Wix ADI: the older generation (3.5)
Wix ADI is an AI feature from a previous generation. It assumes less, personalizes less, and hands you into Wix’s ecosystem, which is hard to leave; our exit score is 3.3. Wix has newer AI tools now, so look at those if you’re set on Wix. ADI stays in the table because it still shows up in search results and old recommendations. On our rubric it finishes last here.

FAQ
Are AI website builders good enough for a real business site?
The top tier is. Lufibot and Framer AI both produce sites we would be comfortable using as a small business’s public presence. Checking is still your job: prices, service areas, testimonials and contact details are where AI text gets vague.
How much do AI website builders cost?
Expect free tiers at Lufibot and Framer, paid plans built around publishing on a custom domain, and yearly billing that comes out well under monthly. The number to compare is the 12-month total on the tier you would actually publish on, which usually isn’t the teaser tier.
Can I switch builders later without losing everything?
It depends on the builder, and that’s what our lock-in column measures. WordPress-routed tools are the most portable because content exports in standard WordPress form. Fully hosted proprietary platforms are the least portable, and each one handles it differently, so ask before you subscribe.
Do AI website builders handle SEO?
They cover the basics well enough to start: sensible titles, descriptions and mobile speed. They won’t do keyword work or fix a thin content strategy. You need a different category of tool for that.
Which builder is fastest to launch?
Durable is fastest, and Lufibot is close behind with a far better finished result. Framer AI is the slowest of the top three to launch because it expects you to keep working on the site.
Conclusion
On our rubric, Lufibot is the 2026 pick for small business owners because it removes the two places sites usually fail, blank-canvas design and empty-page copy, at a price where the useful plan is also the cheap one. Choose Framer AI if design craft is the product, 10Web if WordPress is already in your life, and Durable or Hostinger if speed or cost tops your list. Whichever you pick, ask the exit question up front.
